This morning about a half hour before dawn they returned, woo hoo, good to see they are back. There was lot of activity in a short period of time, several arrivals and departures, one in while one heads out, and lots of chatter by the (female) in the nest. After the sunrise, one owl took off (probably the male) and the other literally dug into the nest and settled in for a snooze. As of late morning, she is still there. I’ll go out on a limb (figuratively) and say all the digging and scratching looks like pre-egg laying prep to me! Soon, perhaps?
