After no owl visits yesterday during the day or most of last night, they both showed up a couple hours before dawn and were very active. This is very good news after yesterday’s absence. Both were at the treehouse together many times this morning with a lot of arrivals and departures by both owls. My guess is “she-eso” is the one that continues to spend time inside and for most of the two hours they were there, she called with the signature trill sound almost constantly. A lot of conversation going on! Reminder these owls do not hoot; see my owl faq for more info. In the photo with both owls, note the large talons gripping the perch.

In the video, not only can you see and hear the two owls chatting it up, it also shows a glimpse of a paper wasp checking out the treehouse for a potential nest site for itself. Yes, owls will eat wasps and other insects.
